Sunday Morning Classes

Winter 2007-2008

ADULT - (Auditorium)

TOPIC: Forgiveness of Sins

TEACHER: Jim Lovell

This study addresses our need to fully understand and appreciate God’s grace and mercy in His forgiving our sins. It delves into what our active response should be toward our Lord and the beautiful benefits that are added to the life of a Christian.

ADULT - (Room 221)

TOPIC: Jesus Is Lord

TEACHER: Steve Van Slyke

Did you know that over one-third of the recorded teachings of Jesus in the New Testament were spoken as Parables? Most of the words of Jesus that we remember very likely are words spoken in His Parables. A better understanding of the great lessons included in these Parables will help us place and keep Jesus on the throne of our hearts. Is He really the Lord of your life?

ADULT - (Room 217/219)

TOPIC: Jacob and David

TEACHER: Stanley Strong

This quarter we will study the biblical accounts of the lives of Jacob & David. We will look at both the blessing and cursing, the good and the bad, as God uses these young men in the unfolding of His scheme of redemption throughout the Old Testament.

ADULT - (Room 206)

TOPIC: Church History, Hermeneutic Principles,

and the Nature of a Saving Faith

TEACHER: Mac Moore, Mark Newby, Brett Olds

We will study church history, hermeneutic principles and discover how the scriptures validate why we do what we do in the church. We will also look at God’s promise of salvation, grace offered through Jesus, the nature of a saving faith , how God’s law guides our expression of faith, and what God requires in our obedience (works ) of faith. An interpreter will be present for the hearing impaired. Questions and discussion strongly encouraged.

ADULT - College & Young Professionals(Room 204)

TOPIC: Moral Issues

TEACHER: Philip Spann

Many people want true and correct answers to significant moral and ethical issues of current interest. This class will examine questions of morals and ethics in light of Bible teaching. Included are discussions of abortion, gambling, drug abuse, homosexuality, sexual morality (pornography and extramarital and premarital sexual relations), and divorce and remarriage. Are these practices moral and ethical or immoral and unethical? What answers does the Bible give for these questions of morality and ethics?

ADULT - Young Families(Room 208)

TOPIC: The Family Relationship

TEACHER: Jim Fox

We will study the Bible pattern for the home: how family members should treat one another. What are the duties of the husband, wife, parents, and children? How important are love and commitment in marriage? For what cause may spouses divorce and remarry? Who should exercise authority as head in the home? Who should provide family income and who should care for the home? How diligent should parents be in teaching and training the children? Should parents use spanking, discipline, and punishment to motivate obedience? Who should care for elderly parents? God's word gives inspired instruction to guide us to happy homes.
