What is your greatest joy in serving as elder?
“My joy as an Elder is, that my responsibilities are the very same as they were the day the Lord added me to His Church, the moment I obeyed in baptism His invitation to be His disciple. The joy I have as an Elder is the very same joyous responsibility as a leader of my (in-the-flesh and in-Christ) family, as we together seek to fulfill God’s purposes in our generation. My family helps me want to do better each day. Mt.6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” This sums up our responsibility and joy.”
What area of work at West End are you most interested in?
“My greatest interest/concern is that I might rightly understand God’s Word and purposes and that my manners of life (thoughts, words, actions, attitudes) demonstrate that Christ lives in me and rules my life. My personal interest is to encourage each family member to seize the “abundant life in-Christ” that rises above often trying circumstances; remembering that heaven is our eternal home and sharing that reality is our greatest opportunity.”
Favorite Bible verse: 23rd Psalm
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (NIV)
