The West End Church library is located in the office area of the building, across from the secretaries' office. All materials are cataloged in the computer and the information can be accessed on the computers in the library. A card catalog was kept up to date through about the year 1998.
Materials in the library are for all members, including children, teachers, and casual readers. There are over 7000 books, 1800 video tapes, 1700 audio cassette tapes, and a few DVDs especially in the kid’s section. Donations and memorials are constantly adding new materials to the collection. Slide projectors, cassette tape recorders, and a VHS/DVD player are all located in the library if you wish to use the materials there.
To check out a book, video, or audio tape, the user simply signs his/her name, dates the card with the check-out date, and drops the card in the designated box in the library. The same procedure can be done whenever books are presented on a cart in the foyer. This is usually done when the children have a reading program.
Quite a few of the holdings of the library have been entered into an online program called Library World. This resource allows you to search for books with a particular title, author, or subject over the internet. To access this resource, go to www.libraryworld.com/opac and type in WESTEND for the library name. No password is required. You can then search based on subject, title, author, or all words associated with the description of this book including the subject, title, and author.
