Plan Your Visit

Let’s face it.

Visiting a church for the first time can be a little intimidating.
Our goal is to help make your visit to the West End Church of Christ a great one! We want to help you make a connection with Jesus and His people.

What to Expect

What happens when I arrive?

You’ll be welcomed at the door. Our greeters can help you with any questions and guide you to the Welcome Center for more information, to the auditorium (where we gather for worship) or to a class.

What is a worship service like?

We will have congregational singing, and you will hear spoken prayers and a lesson that is Bible-centered and applicable to your life. One of the unique things about West End is that the music is ‘a cappella’. We sing without the use of musical instruments. We love the beauty and joy of worshiping God from our hearts and with our voices. We believe you will find the singing meaningful and uplifting, with everyone being invited to participate. If you want a clearer picture, click here to watch our service live!

What should I wear?

There is no dress code. Some of our members dress up and some dress casually. What’s most important to us is that you are here with us.

What is expected of me?

We hope you’ll participate in the worship service, but don’t feel obligated. You can just observe if that is your choice. We would love for you to hang around after worship so we can welcome you and get to know you! Don’t hesitate to ask any questions or let us know if there is something you’d like to study.

What about my kids?

We have attended nurseries on Sunday morning during worship for infants and toddlers. During our class times on Sunday and Wednesday, we offer Bible classes for all ages from infants to adults. There are additional programs for children on Sunday mornings and evenings. We have very active Children’s and Youth Ministry programs.

What about communion (the Lord’s Supper)?

The Lord’s Supper will be included in our worship time each Sunday. During this time, prepackaged individual combined communion cups will be available of unleavened bread (symbolizing the body of Jesus) and grape juice (symbolizing the blood of Jesus). You do not have to participate in this celebration of what Jesus did for us on the cross. You are welcome to observe.

Will you ask me for money?

After the Lord’s Supper, a prayer will be offered thanking God for His blessings toward us. If you feel moved to give a financial offering, there will be a box in the lobby where you can do so. As our guest, you are not expected to make a donation.

We Believe…

the Bible

as originally given by God, divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy; and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct; is a light guiding our path
(2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:10)

every person has worth

as a creation of God, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

our Lord Jesus Christ

lived a sinless human life and is the one and only sacrifice for our sins; He was resurrected from the dead and ascended back to heaven (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; John 3:16)

obeying Christ

means repenting of sin, confessing your faith in Christ as the Son of God and being baptized into Him for the forgiveness of sins (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38)

forgiveness

of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to all who obey the will of Jesus Christ the Savior and Lord
(John 3:16; Mark 16:16)

the church

is the Body of Christ, is empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to save the lost and edify the saved (Ephesians 4:1-16)

 the resurrection

of Jesus Christ from the dead has given us a new birth into a living hope. Jesus died and rose again, and we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
(1 Peter 1:3,  1 Thessalonians 4:14 & John 11:25-26)
